There is only, ONLY ONE thing to describe this month.
THE ROOKIE.
I’ve been spending practically the whole month eating, living, breathing and sleeping The Rookie. The beginning of the month saw me going for the preliminary interview and making a complete arse of myself in front of the Nokia judge, pronouncing “encompass” wrongly because I was too nervous. Damn.
But I got through to the final 12 and saw myself spending many many weekdays at the production. First there was the briefing and our introduction shoot, and then the tasks began. I met Bobby Tonelli, the American host, a group of young people that grew to become my extended family, and a production team that I loved.
The eliminations began, and I worked my ass off to keep my position in the competition. Where I am now I shall not say (in order not to ruin the element of surprise).
But what amazed me was the intense amount of cohesion among us contestants. Instead of being ultra competitive and doing as much as possible to get rid of each other, we’re actually really really tight. I’ve spent practically every day with at least one of them this month. One of the girls, M, was joking with me that our judge is probably kicking himself for choosing us, because instead of fighting against each other, we’re loving each other like a bunch of hippies on E instead.
This month also saw me learning so many things at a super high speed. What I learnt in a month, I can safely say, exceeded whatever I learnt in my 9 months in advertising. Yeap, true story.
And to top it all off, I had the most amount of fun in my life this month. It’s really been a great experience. I said before that 2010 would be an awesome year, I didn’t think it would be this wonderful. <3
